Readers Respond and New Additions

Hello — Last week’s information about the 1900 Galveston hurricane and St. Mary’s Catholic Orphan Asylum produced lots of reader response. One reader from Galveston reports that a Walmart has been built on the site of the old Asylum. Rumor has it that the toy department is haunted by the ghosts of the children drowned in the hurricane.

Our latest additions to the site include one of the great Wild West cemeteries — Concordia — in El Paso as well as two interesting Sidebars.

Enjoy.

Rumors of our Burials are Greatly Exaggerated

Greetings — we’ve finally dug ourselves out from under the weight of remodeling and are so glad to be back doing fun research and writing.

We’ve posted one Houston Cemetery and two Sidebars that are related: Villa de Matel Cemetery tells a tragic tale, the Most Beautiful Sacred Space in Houston describes an architectural gem and Sacred Relics reveals a practice found throughout the world’s major religions.

Enjoy.
