Most Visited Grave in Paris

Bonjour — when we visited Père Lachaise, with cemetery map in hand, we were constantly asked, “Where is Jim Morrison buried?” Even people who didn’t speak English would say, “Jim Morrison?” But he is just one of many famous people buried there. Check out Edith Piaf, Camille Pissarro (the father of Impressionism) and others in Part 2 of Cimetiere Père Lachaise, Paris, France.

Amusez-vous bien.

Old Calton Burial Ground, Scotland & Grayfriars Bobby

Greetings — here is the 2nd installment of the cemeteries and sidebars we visited in Edinburgh, Scotland. Old Calton Burial Ground contains the only monument to the American Civil War erected outside of the US, the story of a Scotsman who was sold as a slave to America and the grave of the “father of the whiskey industry in Scotland.”

The Sidebar tells a heartwarming story about a faithful dog and his beloved master.

Enjoy.

Cimetiere Père Lachaise, Paris France

Greetings — Paris’ most famous cemetery is worth a visit because so many interesting individuals are interred there. We’re posting in several batches and here’s the first, including a famous painter, actress and several musicians. Additionally, the Holocaust Memorials are very moving so we’ve posted them in a separate Sidebar.

Enjoy.
