Greetings – we recently spent some time in the lovely city of Bastrop Texas, east of Austin on the Colorado River. We stayed at a wonderful B&B, the Pecan Street Inn, and awakened to roosters crowing and a thunderclap so long and loud, it rattled the windows. Bastrop has done an amazing job of preserving its historic legacy with more than 140 structures on historic registers, an excellent new Visitors Center and many outstanding restaurants and shops. Don’t just fly by on the highway next time you’re on your way to Austin. Turn off & experience some beautiful Texas hospitality.
Of course, while visiting, we spent time in Bastrop’s important historic cemetery where we found the graves of a Texas governor, a stagecoach driver and an Indian fighter among many others.
Also, take a quick look at this video produced by Houston Public Media about College Park Cemetery.
