Butler:  Michael – In 1896 this gentleman opened Michael Butler’s Brick Works in the Chaney Junction industrial development just north of Buffalo Bayou and west of downtown.  The factory started with four kilns but has expanded to seven by 1907.  Many of the cotton seed oil facilities in the area were constructed of Butler Brick.  The business closed in the mid-1920s.  Later the Ed Sacks & Company’s waste paper facility was erected here but it also no longer exists.
